Turn on/ off Ford day running lights use Ford IDS

The DRLs are implemented by using the low beams at a reduced voltage of approximately 80% system voltage to help light the road when the headlamp switch is off. The DRLs, however, are something that some drivers want to disable during the day while still being able to use them for driving at night.  Here OBD365 would like to introduce a quick guide for achieving this with Ford VCM II diagnostic tool and IDS software. This job does not need to cut wirings and should take you less than 5 minutes.

Things you will need:

- Ford VCM II V86 diagnostic tool with IDS software. There are two kinds of V86 Ford VCM II with or without WIFI function, both will do the job.
- A laptop or computer with XP operating system

How to turn on DRLs with Ford IDS software:

1) Get a Ford VCM II scan tool: http://www.obd365.com/wholesale/best-quality-ford-vcm-ii-multi-language-diagnostic-tool.html.
2) Install the Ford scanner on the laptop.
3) Locate the OBD diagnostic socket in the car and plug the VCM II main unit into the OBD port.

4) Go to programmable parameters, select exterior lighting.
5) Change from disabled to enabled in the body control module and instrument cluster module.
6) Follow the directions on screen for cycling the key or ignition on and off.
7) Clear codes. Done.

How to turn off DRLs with Ford IDS software:

1) Install Ford VCM2 scan tool.
2) Locate the OBD diagnostic socket and plug the VCM2 main unit into the OBD port.
3) Go to programmable parameters, select exterior lighting.
4) Change from enabled to disabled in the body control module and instrument cluster module.
5) The DRLs has been successfully disabled.
